Plot Summary:Cycles of life, with fantasy elements. An ax splits wood. Bits of split wood move in stop-motion; one piece has a woman's face near the top. Water streams in torrents; patches of snow give way to spring. A large black bird flies into the frame. It attacks and splinters the wood with the woman's face. The piece of wood, whole again, becomes the bird's body. It flies about, and it's celebrated by other bits of wood. Then, a man leaves a house carrying an empty pail. He gathers bits of wood. A chimney smokes.
深山老林，白雪皑皑，宁静悠闲。伴随着斧头颇具节奏的敲打声，一块块原木碎作木柴。冬去春来，溪谷的寒冰化开，流水让森林重新焕发活力，而温暖的阳光又让万物重现生机。即使是已经碎成一段段的木柴，也陡然站起身来，伴随着溪流快活的节奏纵情歌舞。就在此时，一只带着死亡气息的乌鸦划过天际。它抓住了一根落单的木柴，用尖喙将其碎尸万段，吞入囊中。 仿佛被同化了一般，乌鸦的面容消失，头颅和身子变成一根朽木，呈现出死神的模样。它飞翔经过的地方，全部变得破败不堪。春之气息荡然无存，寒冷与死亡重新统治大地……
